If You Think Being a REALTOR is Tough.... try judging a father/son cake baking contest!

WOW! Last night was the Boy Scouts of America Pack 130 of Morehead City, Bake Off. Each young man was to bake a cake with his dad and decorate it for the pack meeting. As my family and I entered the meeting, I was asked to Judge
the Contest. No Problem! Well, it was a problem! How do you choose between so many wonderful, creative and well.... Yummy looking cakes?
The good news is that each cake won an award. Tanner's Dirt Cake took the prize for the Greenest (or was it dirtiest) cake. There was also a Gooiest, a Most Realistic, A Best Dressed, a Most Adventurous, The Yummiest, the Hootiest, the Sportiest, the Quackiest), the Fishiest, the Most Patriotic, etc.
And of course, a 1st Place Overall Winner:

GOOD MORNING AMY! These are cakes? Wow! Very very nice - especially that first place one!
I would love to see a NASCAR car - they made one on the show Cake Boss and it was really well done!
Gabrielle - Yes, they are cakes, and many of them were very impressive. My boys have some practicing to do for next year.... Have a great day!
Wallace - There wasn't a Nascar cake, but there was this one......
What fun, thanks for sharing the great cake photos and good one to all who participated.
OOOH! I feel your pain. One time I was the home plate umpire when my son was pitching. Why they let him pitch was beyond me. He couldn't have found home plate with a GPS!
Rene - We had such a great time! I'm just glad I didn't have to Taste each cake.... I would have blown my diet for sure!
Here's another cake, just for kicks!
Oh Doug.... It was tough! I will say that my boys are determined to improve their cake decorating skills by next year! I didn't realize the contest was so "Serious". And I'm afraid no GPS will help us with this one ;0)
Good morning Amy,
Wow..now these are some great cakes....good thing they had lots of categories for winners..tough choices! The Boy Scouts is such a wonderful program and am glad you involved Tanner at an early age. I'm trying to play catch up after being gone on vacation and have missed your posts..no phones or Internet for 3 weeks!
Amy. Those are amazing cakes. Are you sure it was the dads and scouts? The hot dog and fries is so real looking.
Dorie - Aren't they great? We are so pleased with the BSA Program..... and Tanner is having a blast! We've missed you and so glad you're home!
Valerie - I loved the Hot Dog and Fries.... and the Corn on the Cob! I can assure you that my husband & son made the dirt cake ;0) As for the others..... Many of them look like Professionals, huh?
The dog and fries was cute. As a kid I was in both the Cub Scouts then the Boy Scouts. I got up to a STAR scout and was a Den Chief for a while. Doing that stuff, left memories for a life time!
Good morning, Amy. Wow! Those are some creative looking cakes! I can see why the judging would be tough...
Bruce - Cub Scouts is proving to be a great experience for my entire family! I hope Tanner decides to stick with it.... He just earned his Tiger Patch last night :0)
Michael - They were amazing, and there were sooooo many of them! Can you believe I didn't take ONE BITE? The boys had a blast tasting them after the meeting! It was sort of like a Demolition!
Oh my gosh Amy Hahn! They are so cool and creative. I don't eat cake (except dirt cake) but by the loads of chocolate I see in those photo's, I might be tempted! What fun!!!
I'm going to go in early so I can take a break at noon to watch your webinar today! You'll do great Alli Bammy!!! Big hugs to you! And thank you so much for the phone call yesterday. It always makes me happy to see that ,... eating grin lovely smile on my phone when your number pops up! :)
Wow, very impressive creations, perhaps we have some future pastry chefs in the making! I would not want any part of the judging assignment.
Amy, what great fun....and I'm sure the boys did it all without a little help from mom! LOL
Hi Amy
if they have thrown the musical notes or the guitar in there, I am sure that would made your job much easier....lol
thanks Amy....my mentor

I think Tanner's dirt cake should have been number one and I am totally objective! So there. Man, there was some talent in that group. After Tanner's I think the hot dog and fries was the best. I'm glad Tanner decided to be a scout.
Laura - .... and I didn't take a single bite! Can you believe it? It's always a pleasure to call you and chat (even when there is no news). You always make me smile! Hugs back to you and thanks for listening in today.... It was nice knowing you were there :0)
Kathy - Judging this contest was one of the toughest jobs I have ever had! And yes, if the kids actually helped with some of these cakes..... I see a few future pastry chefs (in fact, I may call them up for my next event). Have a great evening!
Ellen - My boys did everything by themselves (as you can see)... hehehehe. I did give a little advice, but refused to touch anything! So much fun!
Jimmy - Here's the guitar for you.....
Mom - Tanner's cake was pretty cool! And while it didn't take 1st place, the kids dug in and ate almost every crumb! IT was definitely one of the most popular cakes with the scouts! We are having a blast with the Scouts!
Wow these cakes look incredible!!! I wish I was there . . . but if I was, I would be out of control!
What a great idea to get the boys and dads into the kitchen. Looks like there were some very creative entries.
Amy - What a great event! Looks delicious Surprised I didn't see any missing icing Hope we can get together when you come to Raleigh.
Donald - It was tough to control myself!!!!!! I've never seen cake disappear so fast :-)
Cindy - I loved watching my boys in the kitchen.... fighting over who got to lick the spoon, etc! Next year, my husband and son are determined to step it up a bit! There were some amazing cakes!
Nevin - I hope so too. February 18 & 19th! No meetings, no conventions.... Just for kicks!
Very cool that every one of the received an award Amy................some amazing cakes there!
